Social media isn’t just a way to connect with friends, family, and your favorite celebrities—it’s also a money-making tool. While Marie Kondo or Syd and Shea McGee of Studio McGee might not be the first people who come to mind when you think of influencers, think again. A recent study looked into just how much top designers and popular home-focused accounts profit from their posts across Instagram, Youtube, and Tik Tok and as it turns out, having a social media presence can really pay off.
GoCompare, a British price comparison platform, recently rounded the top 50 home accounts, based on media mentions online. Then, it calculated each account’s estimated earnings per post using Influencer Marketing Hub Tool’s Instagram and Tik Tok money calculators. (Note: the earnings are ranked in pounds.)
As it turns out, a few of our favorites made the list. Home organization expert and Netflix star Marie Kondo (@mariekondo) came out on top earning an estimated $1.52 million USD a year from her posts on Instagram and Youtube (she does not have a Tik Tok account). A single post to her 3.9 million followers on Instagram is estimated to earn her an average of $23,427. Meanwhile, her 606,000 subscribers help her earn around $1,927 per video on YouTube.
