Hotel franchising company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is rolling out Oracle Hospitality’s Opera cloud property management system (PMS) to its full-service hotels.
Wyndham is the world’s largest hotel franchising company with over 8,900 hotels across nearly 95 countries.
The decision to roll out Opera to all of its full-service hotels follows successful pilots at nearly 50 Wyndham hotels over the last nine months, and makes it the first major hotel company to adopt the system globally.
The Opera system is already live at Wyndham hotels in Lorne, Torquay and Wellington.
Full-service hotels joining Wyndham portfolio will be placed on the new PMS, while existing owners can choose between upgrading immediately or waiting until their existing PMS agreements expire.
Wyndham expects around one-fifth of of its full-service hotels will adopt Opera during the next 12 months, but it will take several years before the majority have migrated.
Advantages of Opera are said to include flexibility and scalability, mobile access (eg, staff aren’t tethered to the front desk), easy integration with other software, support for 20 languages and the fiscal requirements of more than 200 countries, and the performance, security and reliability that comes from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
“The rollout of Oracle’s Opera Cloud represents the next step in Wyndham’s continued digital transformation,” said Wyndham Hotels & Resorts CIO Scott Strickland.
